Texas Governor Set to Announce Extremely Progressive Tax Policy

Rick Perry, who’s rumored to be considering a challenge to Mitt Romney for Best GOP Candidate Hair, wants America to return to Biblical Microeconomics:

I think in America from time to time we have to go through some difficult times — and I think we’re going through those difficult economic times for a purpose, to bring us back to those Biblical principles of you know, you don’t spend all the money.

Veteran political handicapper Jesus H. Christ agrees:

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

We applaud Perry’s return to basics, and look forward to his new tax proposal that would qualify Our Christian Nation’s most blessed citizens for residence in the universe’s most demanding gated community.

2012 could be the craziest primary season on record.

@matador1015: That is a marvelous Texas headline on that story.

Romney will be in trouble once Christians find out what Mormons really believe as regards the conception and originally human nature of Jesus, the potential for humans to become godlike beings (“perfect creatures of pure energy traveling between the stars” as my brother who went on a mission to Mexico put it.) Some people believe that Mormonism is not “Christian” in the sens of believing in the divinity of Jesus. It is also my understanding that Mormons believe that Christians are mistaken in their belief and that only they have the True Word.

@redmanlaw: My sister (raised Catholic) thinks Romney is dead in the water due to his Mormonism, but her husband (raised Southern Baptist) thinks it won’t be a big problem with non-SBC Christians (I’m with him). Romney has a tough row to hoe in Iowa (where he’s already lowering expectations by not participating in the straw poll) and South Carolina (one of the largest concentrations of Southern Baptists outside Mississippi*), but he’ll win New Hampshire and Nevada (and probably also Michigan). If he can survive South Carolina, he’ll be fine.

* I had thought South Carolina ranked second only to Mississippi, but it’s actually lower than Kentucky. Full data here.

Dear Lord, I pray, you will see fit in your infinite wisdom to cause to be revealed the Twitter pic of the Goobner’s bulging member in tight satiny Texas Flag running shorts. Amen.

@mellbell: Recent polling suggests fundies aren’t as upset by Mitt’s superstition this round. Unless fundies are lying to recent pollsters.

@redmanlaw: I’m hoping we’re going to be treated to the Romney boys sharing their basement wrestling times in magic underwear. One fun thing they do is spray each other with baby oil which makes cotton transparent as they hump each other.

@mellbell: Gun rights voters think that Romney is a gun-grabbing Eastern elitist for signing the Massachusetts assault weapons ban and his support for gun control in general, although he became a Life Member of the NRA a few years ago (I think that costs about $500) and made the obligatory stop at a gun show.

@texrednface: That bulge in his running shorts is his gun, remember?

@SanFranLefty: Well, that’s what his coterie of DPS trooper boys wants you to believe.

In other campaigns…

Hi,

You’re one of very few people receiving this email because, based on what you’ve told the Obama organization in the past, we think you might know someone who should quit his or her job and come work on the Obama campaign’s digital team for the next 18 months.

That person might be a colleague, a friend, a client — or even you.

Or — it might not.

FYI: Michele Bachmann is tiny.

Tim Pawlenty just proposed Medicare as a Public Option…

@Benedick HRH KFC: These things almost never work out like one wants them to, do they?

Crazy lady threw her tinfoil hat into the ring.

1) Sarah Palin just pitched a shit fit
2) I wonder how many “No More Wire Hanger” stories are lurking about among her ex-staff as she had an unbelievably high staff turnover (if the stories are true) due to her insanity.

@ManchuCandidate: Does Canada have as many crazy politicians as the US does?

@Dodgerblue:
Not on a per capita basis, but then again we just elected a bunch.

@ManchuCandidate: Bachmann is the candidate Palin would have been if she did her homework. She remains an object of merriment, but we should be careful not to get too caught up in the caricature — she has the capacity to be dangerous.

@nojo: She looks like she knows how to get the cum stains out of her sons’ sheets.
