Good Grief

So, we were thinking, what absurd thing will wingnuts choose to feign outrage about the Tucson memorial service?

Batting for the Reds, Michelle Malkin:

More whoops and hollers for the National Anthem singer.

More whoops and hollers for the University of Arizona president…

And immediately, the sobriety is broken by massive whoops and hollers for Janet Napolitano.

Just. Gross.

Strike One! The fervent applause at the arena certainly caught us off guard at first, but we quickly decided that there was no reason a memorial should be somber. Why shouldn’t joy serve as a repudiation of the intent of the crime? Keep hope alive, y’all!

Besides, Tucson isn’t our town, nor is it Michelle’s. Let them find their own ways to deal with it.

And here’s the next pitch…

In the spirit of unity and thriving, will all the prog cities and counties that declared economic war on Arizona over SB1070 repeal their boycotts now?

Strike Two! Unless we missed the part where West Hollywood is sending in troops.

Malkin’s rarely behind the count like this… Here’s the wind-up…

President Obama used to preach that there was no “Red America” and no “Blue America,” just one America.

But tonight at the memorial for the Tucson massacre victims, it will be a sea of blue as the White House unveils the “Together We Thrive” logo and slogan.

Yes, the Tucson massacre is being branded.

In the spirit of unity and thriving, we’ll avoid mentioning “Mission Accomplished”.

And for the record, the tees were both red and blue. As was the logo. As were the programs.

We know this because we followed Malkin’s link to the Arizona Republic’s slideshow of the all-day event. Clearly Michelle remains in shock from the tragedy, because that’s really sloppy of her. Disproving her specious claims usually takes two clicks.

Oh, and Jan Brewer is wearing a blue blazer. Traitor!

And whose slogan is it, anyway? The University of Arizona’s, of course:

The White House announced last night that the president will appear at the University of Arizona at an event the school has dubbed “Together We Thrive: Tucson and America.”

Actually, we pretty much knew that before we tracked it down. God bless everyone involved, but that logo’s clearly not up to national standards.

And so, Strike Three! Off to the clubhouse, Michelle. Perhaps you’ll discover your shred of humanity in the showers.

Considering they’re all about fake symbolism and ego, this does not surprise me.

Poor Michelle. In the universe of Palin and Beck and Limbaugh and Bachmann and Angle and the witch from Delaware and the entire states of Texas/South Carolina/Arizona it’s hard to come up with something outrageous. Give her credit for getting ahead of the crazy curve for once.

I just deleted a long comment on Facebook that I had typed in response to my cousin’s complaint about the same thing. Just not worth it. I prefer my politicians to use a national tragedy as fodder to start a misguided, expensive, illegal war. I mean, not that something like THAT would ever happen…

Oh, I’m sorry, am I being to partisan again?

@homofascist: There’s a difference between partisanship and a lack of common decency. The other side crossed that line a long time ago.

@Tommmcatt is with Karin Marie on This One: Is it bad that the first thing I think of whenever I see MM’s name is Tommmcatt and ping pong?
