For those of you scoring at home, and for those who are alone as well, I read that Utah uses .30-30 caliber Winchester lever action rifles, similar to what that guy from Alabama or whatever was carrying in his ad (that “Old West” looking rifle) and off the shelf 150 grain Winchester Silvertip cartridges. It’s like they were geared up for deer hunting. Range to target: about 20 ft.

BP’s main partner in the exploration well pouring crude into the Gulf of Mexico says mounting evidence shows that the disaster was the result of BP’s “reckless decisions and actions.”

The company, Anadarko Petroleum, said in a statement posted to its Web site that BP should have to pay all damages associated with the spill. Anadarko also said it any revenue it receives from oil collected in cleanup efforts will be donated to charitable and civic groups.

If Utah cared about deterrence, they’d execute convicted killers with hand axes, or drag them behind pick-up trucks.

@FlyingChainSaw: If the deterrence argument had any merit, murder rates in death penalty states would be significantly lower than in non death penalty states. But they aren’t. I’d guess that would be the same if execution were by drawing and quartering.
