Comrade Gingrich Speaks Truth to Power!

In ordinary times, it would strike us as the one of most absurd thing we’ve ever read. But these are not ordinary times, what with a one time GOP Frontrunner asserting that the HPV vaccine casues mental retardation, based solely on the testioney of some random woman she met on the campaign trail, what with a different onetime frontrunner summing up the reasons for his departure from the field by quoting from the Pokemon movie, what with a third onetime GOP frontrunner forgetting, on stage, in the middle of a debate, the name of one of the three Federal agancies he wants to dismantle. Stil, even by these lofty standards, New Ginrich’s latest salvo in the war for the GOP Presidential nomination is laughable in its chutzpah. The New York Times Reports:

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Thanks to a $5 million donation from a wealthy casino owner, a group supporting Newt Gingrich plans to place advertisements in South Carolina this week attacking Mitt Romney as a predatory capitalist who destroyed jobs and communities

Yes, aided by $5,000,000 in ye olde colde harde cashe (courtesy of Citizens United), Newt Gingrich is about to launch an all-out media campaign to portray former Massachussetts Governor Mitt Romney as a heartless capitalist who destroyed the lives of innocent Americans.

Is he wrong?

The movie, financed by a Republican operative opposed to Mr. Romney, includes emotional interviews with people who lost jobs at companies that Bain bought and later sold.

“We had to load up the U-Haul because we done lost our home,” one woman says.

Of course he’s not wrong. But Gingrich, who has made a fortune selling government access to large coirporations while denying that he is a lobbysist, is insanely, absurdly, laughably, outrageously hypocritical. BTW: the “done lost” bit is a nice touch. I commend the filmmakers, especially if (as I sincerely hope) they specifically instructed the interviewee to interject a “done” between “we” and “lost” to make their story seem more… salt of the earth.

But wait, there’s more:

“His business success comes from raiding and destroying businesses — putting people out of work, stealing their health care,” said Rick Tyler, a senior adviser to the pro-Gingrich super PAC, Winning Our Future, which recently bought the film, “King of Bain: When Mitt Romney Came to Town,”

Yes, my fellow Stinquers, that’s a veritable, bona-fide The Police reference in the title of the film.

Just when you thought Romney had the GOP nomination sewn up and things were about to get boring, it turns out that things are actually about to get awesome. Waaaay awesome.

Obama has to be kicking back, smiling and reaching for a cold one when he sees this stuff.

y’all need some help over here on this. done is the past tense of fixin’.
example:
we’re fixin’ to lose our trailer ’cause romney bought the plaint.
(plaint: factory, where one works)
we done lost our trailer ’cause romney shut the plaint down.
fixin’ and done can also be used to predict the future, though.
example:
we’re still fixin’ to vote republican ’cause the democrats done took all our money and gave it all to them black people and meckscuns.

tomorrow’s lesson:
pronouns: the correct use of you’ns.

@jwmcsame: Wednesday’s lesson: “might could”

@mellbell: I think there’s a record album somewhere entitled “Musta Notta Gotta Lotta.”

They can go ahead and call it “The Grapes of Romney.” Put it on a double-bill with “Mr Gingrich Goes to Washington (Again).”

@Nabisco: I didn’t see this one coming. Backstory?

@Dodgerblue: No clue – deck chairs/Titanic? Is Lew a Uniter not a Divider?

OTOH, and also from my Twitter feed, there’s this bit of nostalgia. No sound here in the cube farm, but Jerry looks stoked and Mick completely out of it. Doubt this footage would ever be cleared by Rolling Stones Ltd.

@Dodgerblue: Gracias – I’ll add that to my transcontinental playlist.
