@ManchuCandidate: Erector Sets are where it’s at. I think mine was bootleg — stuff bent and didn’t quite operate as promised. It was probably procured from someone’s car trunk. My chemistry set was beyond awesome until I started doing weird things with sulfur. Inside our apartment. Then my flying spaceship on a string (not RC) was confiscated. My HO trains disappeared, too. I worked damned hard on my model cities. I think my mother was worried that I was catching a case of the ghey. Pfft. Boys’ toys rock.
