Hemmings Find of the Day

Hemmings Motor News rightly bills itself as “The Bible of the Old Car Hobby”.  If I had crazy money, I’d be buying old cars faster than Jay Leno. But this thing made me gasp – imagine travelling the highways and byways of America in a 1955 Flxible:

A description after the jump.

Does it come with its own refinery?

@Mistress Cynica: Good point … you’d have to have a serious stash to fill that thing with diesel (which, I assume, is what it runs on …).

I love the huge cloud of blue smoke in the background of this picture. Really? That seemed like a good idea?

@IanJ: That’s the smell of progress, mister.

@Mistress Cynica: @blogenfreude: Y’all need to study up on your diesel engine fuel efficiency stats. Despite being 10 times the weight of a car, I would bet the engine in that thing is only around 250 cubic inches, and it probably gets around 10 mpg. But, you can put 20 people in it, and as long as you do, your per-person mpg figure is going to be a small portion of that of a Prius.
Now your old diesels have a problem with particulate pollution, which makes for the smelly and highly visible blue smoke, but its not as bad as it looks and smells.

I love me my old diesel.

I heard over the weekend that rock star bus was the way to roll.
