Your Moment of Rodent Zen

This video of a rat on the escalator at the Civic Center BART/Muni station is strangely hypnotic, and there’s some sort of Sisyphean metaphor in there.

The busker playing saxophone in the back just adds to the vibe.

Is that a mournful rendition of “And I Love Her” going on in the background or am I just crazy?

It’s like Republicans facing the future.

@mellbell: You are not crazy; you are correct.

@Benedick: From your lips to the Flying Spaghetti Monster’s ears.

I guess it’s a positive that there were no human turds going by on the steps during that rat’s 69 seconds of rhythmic running.

@SanFranLefty: Was the rat at the Civic Center station? Wouldn’t surprise me.

Just mesmerizing!
I could sit and watch that rat all day.
OMG . . . it’s dark outside!

@Dodgerblue: Yes, this was at Civic Center station [what a wonderful thing to see as you emerge to go to the beautiful City Hall and/or 9th Circuit courthouse], but apparently by sheer volume the Embarcadero station has more feces in the escalator tracks.

That said, give me the homeless kids of Ess Eff over the douche-tastic techies who arrived from Columbus two months ago and are horrified by the homeless of our city and think this is constructive:

The difference is in other cosmopolitan cities, the lower part of society keep to themselves. They sell small trinkets, beg coyly, stay quiet, and generally stay out of your way. They realize it’s a privilege to be in the civilized part of town and view themselves as guests. And that’s okay.

I’m going to go watch a rat run on an escalator now.

@SanFranLefty: When I’m in SF, I hope I run into the rat instead of the douchebag. Talk about devoid of empathy.
