Your Majesty is Like a Dose of Clap

Passing references to Wilde and Shaw bring to mind what may be our favorite Python sketch ever, besides the usual suspects. We first heard this on the “Matching Tie & Handkerchief” album years before we saw it, and the album version is far superior — mainly because the room explodes with raucous laughter after each bon mot, and takes forever to subside. But this particular video version is not without its peculiar charms. Those responsible have been sacked.

Princess Margaret going to the john is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Remembered it for years. Grand to see it again.

@Benedick: Prince Charles said that he learned from his Mum always to use the loo before going to one’s next event. I follow this advice closely.

Awesome–I’ve never seen that one!

Salad Days is my all-time favorite. Oh, crikey!

@¡Andrew!: As a former philosophy major, I can’t help but favor Greece v. Germany.

@Dodgerblue: Sorry to tell you, there’s no such thing as a former philosophy major. You and Nojo are screwed for life.

@Nojo: What the fuck language is in the subtitles in this clip?

@SanFranLefty: Hungarian, apparently. Would have thought Czech, maybe, but then if it isn’t Indo-European I’m quite out of my depth (that applies to geography as well).

@SanFranLefty: Hvernig ert þú? Ég elska tits þinn. Ilmvatn svæða Nether þinn gerir mig missa stjórn á körfunni minni.

And I mean that sincerely.

PS. noje’s comments are in Dip; the Montenegrin AbbA patois of Erg.

@mellbell: I was guessing Czech because of all the accessories to the letters. I love me a good miniscule or umlaut.
