@rptrcub:

Red Dawn, 1983:

When a group of teenagers witnesses Soviet and Cuban paratroopers descending on their small town and systematically setting off World War III, they take food and whatever weapons they can find and hightail it to the hills to wait things out.

Red Dawn, 2012:

When Chinese military forces invade American soil and try to pacify citizens in one community, Marine Jed Eckert (Chris Hemsworth) and a group of his local teenage pals elude capture and go underground to organize a resistance. But their uprising soon faces a ruthless adversary determined to stomp out their grass-roots rebellion.

First they came after our iPhones, and I said nothing.

@nojo: I wonder if people will still be enthusiastically supportive of drone strikes when the Chinese are blowing Americanized Texan radicals to smithereens in 2026.

@¡Andrew!: Before or after Canadian drones take out the Baldwins?

@nojo:
It was changed to the North Koreans (all 22 million of them)… because the producers thought that RW paranoid claptrap would sell in China.

Judging by worldwide ticket sales, it didn’t really sell anywhere.

@ManchuCandidate: Sounds like Netflix needs to update the 2012 listing.

Neither is streaming, alas. Figured it was finally time to watch the original Red Dawn and get it over with.

so february 23rd will from now on be known as cold dead fangers day? fitting for those older teabaggers who favor gun play but not health insurance. or working stiffs who have to shovel a driveway in february just to get to work.

@nojo:
You’re not missing much. Outside of the amazing NM panoramas, the rest of the story sucks.

@ManchuCandidate: I doubt I’m missing anything at all, but Atlas Shrugged is streaming, so why not?

Soon as I’m done rewatching Battlegeek. The last season was better than I remember.

According to my copy of the Little Redstate Book all power comes from the barrel of a gun–preferably an assault rifle.
