News Takes a Holiday

There’s nothing worth talking about this morning. Enjoy it while it lasts.

One thing I learned this weekend: There is such a thing as too many rye and gingers… I feel human today unlike yesterday when I spent my vacation from labor lying on the couch thanks to the hangover.

Wohooo! That picture was me last night. Grilled chicken, BBQ chicken (my own special sauce that turned out a bit too sweet), cheeseburgers… yum, yum, yum!

Now it’s back to the grind. I averaged 24 mph on the way to work this morning. Yuck!

TJ: Best Use of Atlas Shrugged Ever, courtesy of Stinque’s favorite East Coast antiquarian book dealer LuxMentis.

Man, I can’t wait for fall so I can hang out in the backyard and barbecue.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: Can’t you just throw your meat on to the patio and dash out to turn it after about 7 mins out in the broiler?

Sadly, in Fla they’re preparing to add some words of the Prophet (there is no god but god) to the mesquite.

In other news, Kim Jong Il prepares for a backfield handoff to Kim Jong Younger?

Be glad you could zonk out.

Yes, there was no news this weekend. I know ’cause I had to work over it. Freakin’ agony, man.

@Signal to Noise: Hey, what about the dude that climbed the 60-story building in Ess Eff yesterday? All the local teevee channels were running live coverage – I was concerned the news helicopters would collide over my YMCA.

@SanFranLefty: reciprocal TJ: Somewhere in the archives here is a flyer a friend gave me from a used bookstore on the East Coast publicizing their Reader’s Digest Condensed Book Toss.

@SanFranLefty: oh, he was on. believe you me. but it’s hard to fill two and a half hours on that.

@Signal to Noise: Yeah the local CBS and ABC affiliates managed to go to a commercial break just as SFPD was slapping the handcuffs on him.

@lynnlightfoot: Oooh, that’s awesome. No book burning in my world, but using right-wing screeds to break up cysts or to toss in the air sounds great. And can I add that I love the fact that if I feel a need for an antique book I have not one but two possible sources courtesy of Stinque? (LuxMentis and Cynica). LuxMentis found me this awesome 1908 book about the 1906 earthquake that I gave Mr SFL for his birthday a couple years ago.
