Wealthy Person Builds Large House!

Wasilla's no Hyannis Port.

It appears that Sarah Palin, freshly embarked upon her new career autographing manuscripts for profit, has decided to invest some of her earnings into the Wasilla economy:

As was reported first by our friend Gryphen from Immoral Minority, the Palins are currently constructing a new chateau-type building on a property right next to their house in Wasilla. As Gryphen found out, the ground on which this new building is being erected was apparently bought by the Palins on July 14, 2009 — two weeks after she resigned.

Well, that’s mildly interesting, in a slow-Monday sort of way. But not nearly as interesting as the shocking discoveries! accompanying the exclusive photos!

  • The ground floor features a small-airplane hangar — just like many other Alaskan homes!
  • Todd Palin has a pilot’s license — but not for seaplanes!
  • The Palins have rented the house next door — and may ultimately buy it!
  • Two guys doing framing aren’t wearing hard hats — a grave violation of OSHA laws!

“If you want the news,” writes blogger Patrick, “forget the ADN or the other daily newspapers in Alaska. You will get it right here.”

We could also get it from Gladys Kravitz, but that doesn’t make it any more noteworthy. Then again, maybe the real news is that there are Palin-haters out there who make Team Sarah look respectable.

Really? You can make Team Sarah look respectable? I did not know that. I thought you got banned if anything you posted contained the words ‘but’, ‘why’ or ‘if’. Otherwise I would have asked why on earth build so close to those other houses. Not that I really need to know. I was much happier before I could remember her name and only ask now that I be allowed to forget.

Oh and thanks for posting news from Sully so I don’t have to go there. I despise the self-aggrandizing little toad. More particularly since he referred to Alan Bennet as an ‘old queen’. Now I have to go and punch something.

Oh, and… first!!!!!111!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!11

It has that feel of a lot of anti-bush bloggers who took facts and then couldn’t do anything with them.

I’m more curious as to how someone who cried poor (due to that pile of Legal Fees–Thanks Team Suckers Sarah) could afford to buy a decent plot of land.

She’s done a good job so far fleecing the PUMAs and other rubes. Look for her to build another base in some wingnut friendly state in the lower 48 within a year.

@ManchuCandidate: The Communist Party? Really? Just when they’d made such a breakthrough uniting with the fascists under Obama.

are they making chateau-type trailers now?

@Benedick:

That should be “Whootah!!!111!!”, darling. “Whoo-Hoo” is shockingly mid-nineties at this point. Plus, I have decided that the phrase “Old Queen” is henceforth to be considered an honorific, mostly because I am about 3/4 of the way there myself. The same category once occupied by Harry Hay and Quentin Crisp is a consummation devoutly to be wished, for my life anyway.

I must concurr about punching the Sully-monster, however, mostly for everything he wrote prior to 1995.

@Tommmcatt is hunkered down in the trenches:

you mean before he figured out that most people are not that interested in unprotected sex with fat hairy guys?

signed
happy old queen

@Tommmcatt is hunkered down in the trenches: Quentin Crisp? I didn’t know he was an old queen, I thought he was one of the stately homos of England.

@Capt Howdy: Oh yes, I have read The Naked Civil Servant, I love his silly pun, thats all, when he calls himself one of the “stately homos of England.”

@Capt Howdy:

Or “was”, alas. He is entertaining longshoremen in heaven now.

@ManchuCandidate: CP’s host went offline for a number of hours back in the spring, so there’s no telling whether this is a server problem, or the site was actually zapped.

I was actually paying close attention to the domain registration back in January, ready to pounce if it expired. But an auto-renewal kicked in, and I lost interest.

Still would like to have those old posts for the archives, however — mine were all reposted to Blogger for safekeeping, but the material from Bloggie, Chainsaw, Marcel and HF is probably lost.

@Tommmcatt is hunkered down in the trenches: Good, because there’s not much work for them down here these days.

@Dodgerblue:
true
I was a merchant marine for several years in the 70s. those guys are hurting too. I am still in touch with some of them.

@Dodgerblue:

I don’t think that either party would consider that kind of entertainment “work” per se. “Effort”, maybe…

@Tommmcatt is hunkered down in the trenches:
oh I dunno
when I used to be on those boats for weeks and weeks with those lonely “straight boys” I considered it part of my job.
and I take my work very seriously.

@Prommie: I love that stately homo remark. And the book. And also that his name was Dennis before he dyed it. I saw his stage show once. Quite wonderful, especially the Q&A at the end.

@Capt Howdy: I’m so proud of you.

@Tommmcatt is hunkered down in the trenches: I’m using ‘Woo hoo’ ironically as part of the First!!!11 meme I’m trying to get going. I never hear of Wootah. So thanks. I told you I live a very sheltered life.
